How To Install a Putting Green pt 1

Wednesday, June 17th, 2009

Recently my wife got in to golf and she said she wanted a putting green installed in the back yard. So natural when your wife tells you that you can do something that is out of the ordinary like “honey why don’t you go and get us a new TV” you do it before she changes her mind. So i did some research and found out i could do either a real grass one or an artifical grass one. Initialy i was thinking real grass one till i found out you need to buy like a $800 mower to cut it. I would like to do more than just putting on my green as well like chipping and hope it could take like a 50 yard shot. while researching i found that the length of the grass helped hold the chips better. I ordered the 1 inch Ultimate Poly Turf from Backyard-putting-greens.com which came with 2 holes and 2 putting green flags and had the widest cut i found online which was 15 feet compaired to the 12 feet most offered. now its a matter of installing it. i found these vide0s and followed the directions best i could and installed the SOB. Part 2 will contain the auctial installing process i’m tired of bloging right now and it seems to be a logical place to stop.
